B·R·A·H·M·S USA, Inc. is the US subsidiary of B·R·A·H·M·S AG, a $70 million, 400-person, vertically integrated Company with product development, manufacturing, sales/marketing and distribution functions in more than 65 countries. With corporate headquarters located near Berlin, Germany, the Company’s focus is on the development of new and innovative biomarkers and testing systems for the diagnosis and monitoring of infectious disease, cardiovascular disease, oncology and prenatal screening.
The Company´s first products for the US market are for the diagnosis and monitoring of sepsis. Sepsis with acute organ dysfunction is the number one cause of death in the noncoronary intensive care unit and one of the most significant challenges in critical care. More than 750,000 cases of severe sepsis occur annually in the US, causing 215,000 deaths. The hospital cost of treating patients with severe sepsis is approximately $17 billion each year. B·R·A·H·M·S US has received FDA clearance for the Procalcitonin Sensitive Kryptor® assay which quantitatively measures the inflammatory response caused by sepsis.
